What is a Risk Assessment?

A Traffic Management Risk Assessment is a detailed document that is created by using a risk matrix to document and score identified traffic management hazards. It also proposes additional safety controls (barriers, line marking, bollards, etc) to reduce the risks as much as reasonably practicable.

This process helps to:

  • Identify and assess risks involving the movement of vehicles (e.g. forklifts, delivery trucks) and people within and around the warehouse
  • Prioritise risks based on their severity and likelihood
  • Implement targeted safety solutions to prevent incidents

Why it matters:

Completing a Traffic Management Risk Assessment ensures:

  • Safer working conditions
  • Compliance with WHS legislation
  • Fewer incidents and near misses
  • A proactive approach to risk management

What outcomes
can you expect?

The identification and control of hazards and risks that could potentially cause injury, fatality, property and equipment damage, financial loss, or loss of reputation.

We review a site or company’s current risk controls and propose updated risk controls. For example, a site may have a driver safety zone that is protected by a plastic chain and only has a paper sign to identify the zone, and we may propose various risk controls including a barrier around the DRS Zone, and a permanent sign to identify the area.

Our Process

We partner with you at every stage to deliver tailored traffic safety solutions that are practical and effective.

Discovery & Proposal

The initial appointment enables us to better understand your site's unique features before we scope the project and present a Site Safety Audit proposal.

Audit

We begin with a thorough site safety audit to identify hazards, assess current work practices, operational constraints, traffic movement patterns, and review the effectiveness of your existing safety management system.

Documentation

We develop the following documentation:

  • Traffic Controls Map
  • Traffic Management Risk Assessment
  • Traffic Management Plan
  • Traffic Management Standards Manual (Optional)

Feedback Session

We then have a feedback session between SafeQuip and client stakeholders to review outcomes, discuss any challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring continued alignment on safety goals and project expectations.

Installation

The final step, following approval of plans and any required updates, is site preparation and installation of safety works, ensuring all products are correctly implemented and ready for use.
