What is Traffic Management Documentation?

Traffic Management Documentation refers to all the resources and plans used to outline your site's traffic management protocols. With effective documentation, everyone working on or visiting the site can understand the safety requirements.  This also ensures all safety measures for traffic management are effective and comprehensive, mitigating the the consequences of any safety issues.

Based on the information gained during the Site Audit, we develop the following documentation that together form the basis of an effective Traffic Management Plan:

  • Traffic Control Maps
  • Risk Assessments
  • Traffic Management Plans
  • Traffic Management Standard Manuals

1
Traffic Control Map

Traffic Controls Mapping

A Traffic Controls Map is a site plan that shows the location of all physical traffic controls such as designated walkways, barriers, speed limits, mobile plant pathways clear zones, etc.

This map can be displayed on conditions of entry signage, included in training manuals, and posted on safety notice boards to ensure that relevant audiences are educated.

2
Risk Assessment Documentation

Traffic Management Risk Assessment

Work Health & Safety legislation requires all workplaces to effectively manage the risks associated with their operations. A Workplace Risk Assessment evaluates the likelihood and impact of a hazard, helping to determine its potential severity and the effectiveness of current controls. This process guides decisions on necessary additional control measures to be implemented and their urgency.

3
Traffic Management Plan

Traffic Management Plan (TMP)

An efficient Traffic Management Plan (TMP) provides workers with a clear understanding of designated pathways, vehicle operation zones, and safety protocols to ensure the safety of both employees and visitors.

The Traffic Management Plan is also intended as a training document for all site personnel with the key elements of the plan being included in new worker induction and ongoing workplace safety training.

4
Traffic Management Standards

Traffic Management Standards Manual (Optional)

For larger multi-site companies, we can also develop a company-wide Traffic Management Standards Manual. This sets out a consistent set of traffic management standards across all sites, including standards for signage, line marking, barriers, and other control measures. These manuals ensure all site managers conform to the standard your company wants to enforce.

The importance of Traffic
Management Documentation

Traffic Management Documentation is crucial to site safety, ensuring all aspects of traffic management are considered. With the right documentation, you can eliminate the risk of fines, safety incidents, and injuries in your workplace.

Based on comprehensive analysis of your site operations, these documents highlight the key risks and hazards, along with the mitigation you implement.

To enhance safety, the Traffic Management Documentation outlines various measures that need to be taken, such as:

  • Barriers
  • Line marking
  • Safety signage
  • Bollards
  • Speedhumps

To determine what is necessary, you will need a complete Site Safety Audit first. Once the plans are developed, they must be implemented promptly to achieve compliance.
